On-The-Go Breakfast, Recipe

Make Breakfast Yesterday With Berry Cinnamon Overnight Oats

Breakfast is one of those meals that I know is important because my stomach will make little cannibal noises if I don’t eat first thing in the morning. But sometimes it can be hard to fit in when you were supposed to be out the door five minutes ago. So why wait until the last minute to make breakfast, when it can be waiting in the fridge to grab and go?

Berry Cinnamon Overnight Oats is a healthy on-the-go breakfast that includes slow-releasing rolled oats, Omega-3-dense chia seeds, hemp hearts, ground flaxseed, walnuts and berries. Yes, I realize it seems like a lot of seeds BUT do those little guys sure pack a punch! I discovered hemp hearts a couple of years ago and have been adding them to smoothies and porridge ever since! These nut-flavoured crumbs (not a nut) are a great source of Omega 3 and 6 and are the one of the most digestible proteins. Chia seeds were a more recent discovery- their jelly-like seeds provide me with important vitamins like Zinc, B1, B2, B3, Calcium and Magnesium, to name a few. Finally, ground flaxseed helps keep my hair and nails shiny and healthy, plus it has the added benefit of antioxidants.

Now that you know me as a crazy seed lady, here’s my recipe for Berry Cinnamon Overnight Oats! And be sure to send me photos of your overnight creations through Twitter and Facebook!
